Jon Adams
Business Development, Wireless Connectivity, Freescale Semiconductor
Jon is an authority on all things wireless, including IEEE 802.15.4, RF4CE, ZigBee, Wi-Fi, WiMAX, Bluetooth, Ultra Wideband, NFC/RFID and cellular technologies. At Freescale, Jon uses his skills in systems engineering, circuit-level implementation, regulatory policy and market strategy to guide business development for the short-range wireless unit. Truly an ex-rocket scientist, Jon spent 17 years prior to Freescale at the NASA/Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, CA. In addition, Jon Chairs the Technical Working Group, Continua Health Alliance.
Eduardo Bartolome
Engineer, Texas Instruments
Mr. Eduardo Bartolome is a systems engineer in the high performance analog medical group, in Texas Instruments, where he joined more than 10 years ago. In this role Mr. Bartolome is responsible for the definition of integrated circuits that are at the core of today’s state of the art medical devices. He obtained an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, Spain and previous to his current role, he worked for 3 years in the IFAE, a high energy physics research institute in Spain where, among others, he developed ultra low dose detectors for digital radiography.
Richard Bonner
Lead R&D Engineer , Advanced Cooling Technologies
Mr.Bonner has lead multiple government and industrial R&D programs involving advanced thermal management. The topics include corrosion resistant microchannel cooler coatings, nanofluid stabilization, junction level cooling, and thermoelectric heat exchangers. Mr. Bonner has over 8 years experience in two-phase heat transfer and heat pipes including his graduate work at Lehigh University and 6 years industrial experience at ACT. He is also continuing his education by working towards a doctoral degree at Lehigh University studying advanced condensation on self-assembled monolayers.
Mark Diperri
Field Applications Engineer, Freescale
Mark Diperri earned a BSEE from Northeastern University and has over 30 years experience ranging from product conception to customer installation and training. Currently employed by Freescale, Mark specializes in medical device solutions. He is focused on intelligent health and wellness monitoring systems that will use technology to sense a person’s physical and/or physiology, process data in real time and determine the action required to prevent a life threatening event.
Leo Estevez
Chief Technologist, Connectivity Software, Wireless Business Unit, Texas Instruments
Leo Estevez is the chief technologist for connectivity software in the Wireless Business Unit at Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI), responsible for developing next-generation wireless solutions for emerging markets as part of the wireless connectivity chief technical office.
Estevez joined the wireless business unit as Chief Software Architect for mobile processors in 2002. In this role, he spearheaded and chaired the development of OpenMAX, an open source multimedia framework currently deployed on all Android smartphones. Prior to that, he served as a researcher in computer vision for TI’s DSP R&D labs. His leadership in the development of hardware and software computer vision reference designs, which were adopted by various customers, resulted in a dedicated security camera business unit at TI.
Estevez recently earned his master’s in cognitive neuroscience with a specialization in user interfaces from the University of Texas at Dallas. He also holds his PhD in electrical engineering with specialization in DSP from Texas A&M University.
Joe Fabbre
Director, Platform Solutions, Green Hills Software
Joe Fabbre is the Director of Platform Solutions at Green Hills Software. His focus is bringing together software technologies to solve common challenges in various vertical segments of the embedded industry. Joe has been in the embedded industry for over 15 years and holds a BS in Computer Engineering from the University of Notre Dame and a MS in Computer Science from Illinois Institute of Technology.
Elisa Maldonado-Holmertz
VP of Business Development, Emergo Group Inc.
Elisa has more than 20 years of experience working with multinational healthcare companies, including consultancy, CRO organizations and start-up medical device companies, in the USA, Belgium, Sweden and China. She has held numerous business development, clinical research and reimbursement management roles throughout her professional career and has significant experience with assisting medical device companies with creating and implementing regulatory strategies in the US and European markets. Prior to joining Emergo Group, Elisa was a senior consultant for a Swedish-based medical device consultancy.
Stephen Olsen
Software Architect, Embedded Systems Division, Mentor Graphics
Stephen Olsen has over 20 years of embedded software experience with his past 15 years spent at Mentor Graphics. Stephen an operating systems architect for Mentor Embedded, Mentor’s embedded software division. During his tenure at Mentor, he has co-chaired VSIA’s Hardware dependent Software (HdS) design working group, worked on the MRAPI specification for the Multi-core Association and authored several papers on system design and power management. Stephen has worked in consulting, system architecture, embedded software, and IP. He holds a BS in Physics from Humboldt State University in California.
Peter Ritt
Advanced Cooling Technologies, Inc.
Peter Ritt recently joined ACT as Vice President of Technical Services. Mr. Ritt is a former RCA/Thomson executive where he most recently was Mgr Strategic Programs and Business manager for the Lancaster R&D center. In that role he was responsible for developing technologies, processes and products for scale up and commercialization, which is common to some of his responsibilities at ACT. He has been granted 20 patents in display technologies and holds degrees in chemical engineering from the University of Notre Dame and MBA from Shippensburg University.
Barry Sall
Principal Consultant , PAREXEL Consulting
Mr. Sall is a Principal Consultant with PAREXEL Consulting in Waltham, MA. PAREXEL provides clinical trial, clinical data management, medical and regulatory services to the pharmaceutical and medical device industries. Mr. Sall’s areas of responsibility include strategic regulatory consulting involving medical devices and combination products. He also manages the preparation of FDA marketing applications for medical devices and provides regulatory assistance related to the conduct of clinical trials and Quality Systems compliance. He also regularly participates in public and private training activities, including a joint effort with FDA held twice in Israel. He is also a member of the editorial advisory board of the trade journal Medical Device & Diagnostic Industry and is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy, teaching in the Graduate Program in Regulatory Affairs and Health Policy. He has been Regulatory Affairs Certified by the Regulatory Affairs Professionals Society (RAPS) since 1991 and a RAPS Fellow since 2010. In 2008 he was named one of the 100 Notable People in the device industry by MD&DI. Mr. Sall joined PAREXEL in 1989.
Mr. Sall's industry experience prior to joining PAREXEL includes seven years at Integrated Genetics, Inc., a biotechnology company where he was involved in the design and development of several products, established and supervised the Quality Control department and later focused on Regulatory Affairs. Before entering FDA regulated industry Mr. Sall served as a production chemist for New England Nuclear Corporation. Mr. Sall obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree, in biology from Boston University.
